 You have made an important decision for your child in regard to his/her education and we are happy to be a part of that decision. The purpose of the school is to partner with the home and church and assist in teaching young people to think and behave in a Christian manner. This approach dictates a high level of expectation in every area of the school’s program. Your young child will participate in a variety of learning center activities which include art, books, blocks, puzzles, nature, music and dramatic play. Social skills are developed through sharing, taking turns, thinking, reasoning, and solving problems. Bible stories, thoughts, and verses are included in each teaching unit. The school is highly supportive of parents and realizes that in most areas, parents are the primary instructors. We consider our supervision of your child and your involvement with the school as an essential partnership leading to her/his success. This guide is designed to help you as the parent, to partner with the school in educating your child. The home, the school and the church is a three strand cord that cannot be easily broken. (Ecclesiastes 4:12) Therefore, we welcome your involvement.

It is the mission of Hillcrest Academy to provide a Christ-centered, quality education, which equips students for a life of service.

Our Vision
Hillcrest Academy is a ministry outreach of the Hillcrest Baptist Church. The school exists as a separate entity and is governed by a school board. The school board members are elected by the church body and serve a two year term. We feel there is a need for Christian Schools in our area to educate our children in a non secular manner.

We seek to:

Lead children into a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and to become active, involved citizens of Christ’s kingdom and servants of Jesus Christ at home, at school, at church, at play and in their community.

Develop a high level of meaningful parental involvement in all aspects of the school because we believe that parents hold the primary responsibility for the education of their children.

Lead children to value themselves and others as bearing the image of God.

Develop Christians capable of making decisions in all areas of their lives that are consistent with a biblical, Christian perspective.

Provide children with an integrated curriculum that is biblically-rooted, academically challenging, and technologically advanced, enabling them to take up their roles for Christ in a highly competitive, highly technological world.

Include children of all racial, ethnic, and socio-economic backgrounds. Academic programs and social interaction encourage children to experience and appreciate the rich diversity of the family of Christ.

Cultivate student’s gifts for life-long service and learning.

Statement of beliefs

The Bible is God’s holy Word, written by men as they were inspired by the Holy Spirit. It is the infallible, authoritative, inerrant Word of God (2 Timothy 3:16, 2 Peter 1:21)

We believe that there is one God, eternally existent in three persons, Father, Son and Holy Spirit (Genesis 1:1, Matthew 28:19, John 10:30)

We believe in the deity of Christ (John 10:33), His virgin birth (Isaiah 7:14, Matthew 1:23, Luke 1:35), His sinless life (Hebrews 4:15, 7:26), His miracles (John 2:11), His death for our sins (1 Corinthians 15:3, Ephesians 1:7, Hebrews 2:9), His resurrection (John 11:25, 1 Corinthians 15:4), His ascension to the right hand of the Father (Mark 16:19) and His personal return, in power and glory (Acts 1:11, Revelation 19:11).

We believe that people need salvation because of the sinfulness of human nature and that people are justified by faith in the shed blood of Christ, and that only by God’s grace and through faith are we saved (John 3:16-21, John 5:24, Romans 3:23, 5:8-9, Ephesians 2:8-10, Titus 3:5).

We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ (1 Corinthians 12:12-13, Galatians 3:26-28).
We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit by who indwelling the Christian is enabled and called to live a godly life (Romans 8:13-14, 1 Corinthians 3:16, 6:19-20).

We believe that the gift of tongues should be used only when there is an interpreter available (I Corinthians 14:4-5).
Philosophy of Education

We seek to create a learning environment that is excellent, interesting, motivating and most importantly, honoring to the Lord. Our goal is to produce solid, well prepared students who hold a strong Biblical world view.

The teaching approach will reflect our commitment to an excellence in education achieved through strong curricula that is based on biblical principles. We have a coordinated curriculum with clear ability levels that build each year. The academic environment strives to include all modalities (visual, auditory, kinesthetic) giving all students the opportunity to learn.
